Take Home Material
I'd like to think I'm take home material
Not the type of immaterial trophy you’d polish solely for luster
But the kind of girl who could fluster any man with the truth
No I'm not the typical.
I mean some guys would think I'm cynical
for being capable of saying the things that girls think
but never truly think of saying out loud
I am profound.
I choose mind over matter, my contentment is sound.
I am my own being.
You see “her” as an object, not a sensitive being
But I am not "she" and I am not "her"
I am me.
If you can't seem to accept me and all of my assets
I must quickly suggest that you don't take your next step in my direction.
Yes, my hopes are set high, and I seek pure perfection— nothing less
Not the type of perfection you would seek in complexion,
I'm speaking of the most beautiful flaws.
I want the truth of it all
See, I'd like to think that I'm take home material.
I hope that one day one man will love me for me— set aside from appearance
And one day he'll gaze into my eyes and tell me in the sincerest of voices
that I'm the one nearest to his heart.
