Take it away, please

It hits hard like a stick on a drum

it tears things apart, leaving you numb

waiting until you're vulnerable, it takes you by surprise

then striking fast it takes the ones, that were always by your side

waiting, waiting, waiting as time slowly drags by

just eager for the news, wondering if he'll be alright

the tests, the chemo, make him look so sick

it's weird to see him fragile, unable to move quick

I just want the same man that I grew up knowing

kind and sweet, and a little easy going

cancer is a dick, that strikes the strongest men

"but it's not a matter of if you get it, it's when."
