Take It Easy (New Colors) [song] - DOG DAYS ARE OVER

Take it easy Your mind is thin paper held up to the sun Through it shines colors the eye can’t even see, But you’re quick to burn too fast... Be mindful & burn slow... To regenerate from the flames & let new colors shine Breathe easy Nothing else in your mind But looking for new paths you many find This city, this city Though it chokes the soil below It might reek of opportunity Flip these buildings on their heads And out comes new colors Colors to show us the way back home The homes inside of us, waiting, impatient to be discovered Home, the words & keys of access on the tip of your tongue waiting to jump off the cliff, somersault into the air to ignite & explode As the world will watch in awe And anger from the few, From those who wish to keep it all “right side up” Let the winds of the moment absorb deep into your skin, So you can control the flames within you Keep it lit to fight on, but to keep it from charring you black from the inside out... Those days were hard, but you grew. Oh, Self, how much you grew... Nothing else in your mind But looking for new paths you many find This city, this city Though it chokes the soil below It might reek of opportunity Flip these buildings on their heads And out comes new colors Colors to show us the way back home The homes inside of us, waiting, impatient to be discovered Home, the words & keys of access on the tip of your tongue waiting to jump off the cliff, somersault into the air to ignite & explode As the world will watch in awe And anger from the few, From those who wish to keep it all “right side up” May these new colors explode out our hearts But may we take it easy...? May these new colors explode out our hearts But may we take it easy...? Calling to me, to us, to you Are new colors, not just shades of sad blue... Even though the rainbows we see Are all we can seemingly be. Nothing else in your mind But looking for new paths you many find This city, this city Though it chokes the soil below It might reek of opportunity Flip these buildings on their heads And out comes new colors Colors to show us the way back home The homes inside of us, waiting, impatient to be discovered Home, the words & keys of access on the tip of your tongue waiting to jump off the cliff, somersault into the air to ignite & explode As the world will watch in awe And anger from the few, From those who wish to keep it all “right side up” Take it easy...
