Take Me Away

Take Me Away:

A Journey Through Life

Take me away

To a home full of love,

To feel safe and secure.

Smiling faces,

Warm blankets and toys,

All awaiting my arrival.

Take me away.

Take me away

To a land of diapers,

Of giggling and gaggling.

Where new treasures are discovered

With an unedible meal.

Waddles like a penguin.

Take me away.

Take me away to

A field of fun,

Of cookies, milk, and messy pb&j.

Living in sand.

Learning the alphabet.

A place to be innocent and imaginative.

Take me away.

Take me away

To a kingdom of creativity.

Where I can build skyscrapers,

That tower over the white forts in my room.

I can travel by dreams

Or choose to dive into pages.

Take me away.

Take me away

To a novel of new,

Hanging with mommy isn’t cool.

No more pigtails and no more snails,

And innocence starts to fade.

Take me away.

Take me away

To a dynasty of drama,

Brimming with emotion and concern with status

Where little things matter most.

And friends become enemies

Until you wake and they’re friends again.

Take me away.

Take me away

To a stage to shine

Where I can prove my strengths to others

And learn to love myself.

Where I can share my ideas and prove my worth.

Every day brings new people and new love.

Take me away.

Take me away

To an empire of different

Where you have new stresses,

A new family to care for.

Trying to adapt to unfamiliarity,

Trying to understand the puzzle called life.

Take me away.

Take me away

To a realm of rest

Where those you’ve had forever,

Are no longer here.

There is nothing to worry or fear,

For you are about to embark on a new journey.

Take me away.
