Take a Moment Sit with Me

Sitting on this cold bench in the park. Waiting for my friend just before dark. Taking in everything around me. Processing carefully everything I see. A couple smiling and holding hands They are with their darling kids An old man is playing chess A younger kid is his honored guest A little girl flies a kite It’s soaring high in the sky Pigeons dancing on jogging path Runners quickly maneuver past In distance familiar bells sound Must be where ice cream is found Across way a beautiful lake Swans, Ducks, Cranes play From its pier fishing lines dangle down Fathers sons trying not to make sound Look at that grand ole’ oak tree Blocking sun light from dancing free What a comfortable looking space Where many gather around its base Young men unloading lunch baskets After lending chilly dates jackets Two squirrels chasing through leaves Carefully not disturbing the honey bees One branch offers a swinging swing. A swinging Childs laughter sings Blessings of this masterpiece Leaves my joyful heart at peace You too can share such a tale Just allow yourself to fall under its spell Take a moment just to breathe Leave behind work and technology Release those shackles from your feet Allow yourself to be mentally free Please take a moment and have a seat On this cold park bench with me
