Take My Hand

To be a leader

is to set yourself apart,

to be alone sometimes,

to be close and far away,

to never have enough time,

to guard and to guide,

to take no excuses,

to push until your team

can be pushed no further.

To never break,

to never crumble,

at least, not in front of them,

because what you don't have

is someone to fall back on

other than God.

Silently shed tears,

moments in which frustration eclipses

moderation,

times when you're alone

and you don't think you'll ever get back up.

The shoulder slaps,

the bear hugs,

the smiles.

Alll this strife,

all the struggle,

and all the reward

of finally seeing that person grow--

of finally seeing that quest complete--

what a job.

what a life to live.

I want to be a leader.

So take my hand

and hold on tight;

no more idle hearts,

no more idle minds.

We'll go on

a grand adventure.

Feel that?

Hear that?

See that?

It's calling out to you.

Let your heart swell

with the crescendos

of purposed destiny.

I'll lead

if only someone would follow.

Come on!

Don't turn away;

those shadows don't

become you.

Show me

your battle scars;

I will show you

mine.

Let the fire shine

in your eyes;

admire the stars,

my friend,

as we race

into the Darkness.

They shine for us tonight.

Unsheathe your sword!

Take up your cross!

The time for idling

is over.

It'll be an adventure

to remember;

let's give this next generation

someone to

look up to.

I know we

can change the world

together.

Take my hand;

I'll lead

if you'll follow.

I never will believe

that you are too lost

to be saved.

My allegiance is to my King;

He says

"you're worth trying to save,

and He says,

"you're loved,

and He sent me.

In His kingdom,

even this lowly, imperfect girl

can be a chivalrous knight.

I hope you'll be along

for the adventure--

it's been a great one,

and I'm barely along on mine.
