Take the Pain Away

As I look down and see what that night did you,

I reflect on how I though that walking through the gates were best for me,

And now I see that they were detrimental to you,

I’m sorry but that night I just had to take my pain away,

I remember the nights I ran away,

And how you tried to keep me safe,

But in the end,

The angels came at night,

To tell me that everything would be okay,

Remember I just wanted to take the pain away,

I thought about saying goodbye,

But I knew if I saw you — you would change my mind,

So I did it the easy way by being indirect,

And you showed me my importance,

But that just wasn’t enough,

So that night I took my pain away.
