Taken too soon
Dear Derek,
The day you left was the day I learned that life isn’t fair
God lifted you above and took you right from my hands
up into his heavenly air
I wondered why he took you so soon
But I couldn’t complain I was only two
I had no idea of what I lost until I was listening to the stories with a broken heart
I sat on his bed in his vacant room
I lost my best friend and our potential tore me apart
I saw his car go vroom vroom and the next day
You’d never again see the flowers bloom
everyday I wonder what could’ve been but I know you are up there happy again.
