Taking a chance

Fear, fear of failure, fear to take a chance, afraid cause it might be my last.

I won’t conquer it if I don’t, but maybe I won’t even if I will.

I always hear the words

“You won’t know if you don’t try”, but my thoughts tell me it’s better that way,

I don’t know why.

My mind tells me to take the risk, but no one can see it.

It tells me if I don’t succeed then so be it.

But physically I’m not as strong

cause if I was I wouldn’t let anyone tell me I am wrong.

And now I’m beginning to realize

people have already seen me hit rock bottom,

so what’s the problem.

Just get up and do it, is it really that easy?

Will it matter to the one who can see right through me.

It’s all an act

they’ll call out and laugh

at the fact

that I’m not good at that.

But that’s all I’ve got

so take it or leave it.

Because, the fears I have come and go

And you best believe it.

Something we all tend to do is think so much about a chance we intend to make that we end up changing our mind about it. The act of overthinking things is rooted from the fear of failing and not getting taken seriously. When we take a chance, we are putting a form of our vulnerability out there. But taking a chance for what we believe in is necessary nonetheless. I wrote a poem to express this and to relate to all the people who have felt this way before.
