Taking Flight

School always seemed harder for me

I had to work much harder than others you see

I looked at marketing, graphic design, and my athletic ability but nothing truly called to me

It left me anxious and unsure what I was supposed to be

It was hard watching my friends move on to college

Left me depressed and lost, I had to acknowledge

I didn’t know what I wanted to do, even after touring multiple schools

So I stayed home with my parents following all their rules

I went to work full-time punching the clock

Working for Southwest Airlines watching my life go tick-tock, tick-tock

Pushing out and marshaling in each multi million dollar airplane

Seeing how they operate and the skills required to fly I knew I had to ascertain

At a local airport I took an introductory flight

Found that it made me want to fly day and night

A love of flying started growing in my soul

But the financial burden of flight school was beginning to take its toll

Being grown up isn’t determined by your age or your property

Its about the responsibility you have and choices you make constantly

I have grown up tremendously since high school and am ready for a change

There’s always more growing up to do, so here I go turning the page
