Taking a piece of me
Here I stand …
Naked in a darken room
Exposed to you… nothing hidden… nothing shield
The dim light of my soul
Illuminates the path into my heart
A broken tattered heart
With many missing pieces, torn away with time
My heart was once complete, before I met you…
But after giving my love away to you
I’m left standing her naked, exposed and vulnerable to you
The light of my heart is slowly fading away
My heart is waiting for you to come into my life once again
Tears rolling down my face
Knowing that you will only take another piece away
Another crack forms in fragile heart
As a new pieces prepare to break away
What is it this time…
What caused the break …
Was it a lie?
Is it infidelity?
An insult?
Your horrible words that burn into my soul...
I clutch my chest and take a deep breath
I see only a shadow emerge from the corner of the room
The shadow that resembles you
You have returned to me
With every step you take, the piece begins to break away
As the faint glow of my heart illuminates your face
A smile forms and you take hold of the piece
Your other hand gently strokes my face
Why do you show an act of affection
When you’re here just to take away the piece that you need
I lift my face once again to see your face
But I’m too late… just like you walked in, you had left
With the piece of my heart in your hand
I left behind… standing all alone
In the darkness of my heart and soul
I find nothingness
As tears roll down my face
