A Tale for Fairy Tales

A fairy tale is how a fairy tail goes;

Who decided their story, nobody knows.

Each legend that's told holds truth and holds lies,

But why we still read them, nobody knows why.

A harrowing tale of a dragon might read,

"I just wanted a nap, Prince, go away please!"

In turn, the arrogant Prince would reply,

"Well, I want my princess, so now you must die."

So down goes the dragon, without much of a fight,

Because he knows that death is truly goodnight.

Disappoined with the ease of the dragon's demise,

The Prince elaborates his victory, beginning the lies.

In the end, both characters got what they wanted;

A nap for a dragon, and a Princess to be flaunted.

We tell fairy tales to put children to sleep,

Without realizing that each has a secret it keeps.

So the next time you read from a fairy tale book,

Find the true meaning; it's not that hard to look.
