The Tale of (His) tory

As inhibitors of this land who are we?

Are we honestly what it means to be free?

As we walk this earth we await the answer

Obstructed by the lies of a beautiful dancer

Will we accept the inevitable truth?

Or be robbed of our innocent youth

Will the deceptions of our minds be the loudest cry?

Covered with foundations, what a beautiful lie

Are we a luminous light in a world that is darkened?

We’ve given up the search for truth, so disheartened

A desire to keep alive a whisper of a soul?

Taking a life, which isn’t ours, we just played the role

Are we a wish our ancestor once held close?

We’ve forgotten the taste of freedom, now repulsive, so gross

Slaves to a never ending war, which surrounds us?

Trapped in a joyous dream, we’ve forgotten our lust

Warriors of a battle within the depths of our souls?

Evolving from a seed, we need to grow

A call upon entities to return their shadows?

And glisten in the light of the afterglows

Are we a past that binds our hearts to the cosmos?

Has the truth sailed to as far as the Astros?

A dynasty of a long lost civilization?

The uproar of forgotten aspirations

Are we a history that cannot be translated on paper?

We have admitted defeat resilient slayers

We are a book with unfinished chapters

Will there ever be a happy ever after?

A glorious picture lost in time?

Prisoners in this world, we’ve committed no crime

Are we what the world wants us to be?

Stop looking through the eyes they want you using to see

Have we become the life of a daydreamer?

Has the world silenced all the leaders?

When wills the day come that we awake from this sleep?

How many more centuries will our ancestors weep?
