The Talent You Left Behind

Before, life was a canvas of blue.

With you came streaks of grey

peeking out from behind

the sun’s white shroud.

Still,

it seemed that

life had only gotten better

until your whispered conversations

became my accidental discoveries

Orbs of hope shattered,

their fading brilliance

illuminating the lost memories

that,waiting for your return,

sank to the depths of despair’s embrace

where there lay discarded manuscripts.
