A Tall and Wise Seed
A seed small and innocent
Among thousands of identicals
Easily overlooked in a world of trees
It drifts through the air until it finds its place
I am the seed forgotten and lost
Deep beneath the ground I ponder
What is my purpose?
Will I ever again see the light?
Darkness surrounds me every second
Other seeds are chosen
They are invited back to the light
Squirrels chose them to become great men
And me they overlook and I still have to fight
I want to see the light
So I push forward fighting against the darkness
And I find Light
But life struggles do not stop there.
Now I have light but I’m weak
Found my purpose but it is high and I’m meek
Can such a small sapling become a tree
I wonder will I ever be truly free?
Life trials come
Who said once you know light, you are done
Wind, Rain, and Fire are natural they say
Everyone has to overcome them one day
But what of the woodcutters
That try to cut you down
With sharp words and cutting frowns
All around me trees, my fellow trees, give in
Believing their words, trusting in sin
But yet I survive!
Lonely and tired I almost despair
But look I’m not done winter is here
Light and hope is sparse as is life
Shivering, my determination cuts through cold with a knife
Sunlight breaks through; its summer now
I breathe deep and look down
Strong and sure I stand, Wow!
To think that once I was so small
Weak, Defenseless, Despised by all
Now looking back I realize
All my trials and sorrows have made me
Tall & Wise.
