tarnished

"What if today was the rapture and you're completely tarnished?"

Well at least I know the children are safe,

They get a pass, born with a clean slate,

But I worry about my 7 year old brother claiming God is who he hates.

He refused to pray because the Lord took our great-grandma away

They say "he's young, he don't understand, it's okay"

I say no fuckin way.

Because apparently he's walking around with that on his mind everyday.

Offering explanation seems to only let down bridges of frustration,

I'm afraid that he'll continue to grow with these warped thoughts,

And that he'll continue to lie in his slumber and wallow in bad dreams.

This is what scares me.

It seems the more explaining I do, the more my words become askewed,

I almost feel I am the one being accused,

As he sorts through his thoughts and asks me questions that I don't really know the answers to.
