Tattoos

Each past lover is like ink in my skin.

A voluntary pain I put myself through,

just to find someone who might enjoy

being a permanent investment.

The old ones that left are still in harmony

with my pale pores and constellation of

freckles amongst my skin.

Still there are so many blank spaces.

Endless amount of canvas.

They say the thing about tattoos is

they're addicting.

I guess you could say I'm hooked.

The next boy to make me bleed

will most likely not be the last,

but at least he will leave his mark on me forever

or until my time has passed.
