For Taylor

The trees gossip to each other.
Every time you step back.
But I swear they won't wear out
The pain in your voice.
Thunder fails to kidnap
The source of the noise.
Tears are being held back,
They surface through the cracks
Destroying cheap glue
Of a wall built too fast.

You can be the painter.
Your voice will be the paintbrush.
Just keep singing that same song.
I don't know any of the words.
But I'll still sing along.
Your stories, they harmonize with mine.
But in a higher octave
Breaking
The girl of any disguise.
Sing it again!
I promise I'll listen
Even after it ends.
