Teach Me To Be
I want to learn,
But not what is being taught.
I want to know
How to live before I learn
About my mathematics,
My sciences or my literary devices.
Why should we know about
Theorems and solutions
When most of us don’t know
How to solve the
Problems between each other?
But that’s not what’s being taught.
Why should we know how to
Analyze an author’s words
When we can’t even see
How ours hurt one another?
But that’s not what’s being taught.
I want to learn how to be a good person
Before I follow my interests
Into deeper fields of study.
But that’s not what’s being taught.
