Teach Us

The world is falling

Into war

Hate and death

At my door

This could be avoided

If we could see

If we were guided

Given the key

Teach us peace

Compassion and hope

Fill our minds

Teach us to cope

From tiny hands

To puberty

From the central land

To the sea

We could shape

The nation's future

Study the beauty

Of human nature

Teach us the arts

To create and grow

Teach us the sciences

To solve and know

To live in unity

Must be taught

At a young age

Or it's all for naught

In a world of violence

How will we live

From here and on hence

We are headed

To a future so dark

Teach us to be human

Compassion, hark.

The Cap'n
