The teacher
I write to tell my story,
who I am and what I've been through.
My struggles and my strengths.
My success and my weaknesses.
It's easy to lose yourself in the heat of the moment,
but give me a paper and pen,
and it becomes easy to remember who I am.
I am everything my sisters made me,
because my parents couldn't.
I am everything my friends made me,
because my sisters couldn't.
But most importantly,
I am everything life made me,
because nobody could.
Life taught me to believe when I couldn't,
to smile when I didn't want to,
but most of all to trust in people when I didn't know I could.
I've been kicked when I'm already on the ground,
but I've been picked up by a complete stranger,
who now I am able to call a friend.
I learned to take that extra step,
to walk that extra mile,
to go the extra distance,
just to prove to everybody,
that I can.
I write to tell my story,
who I am and what I've been through.
My struggles and my strengths.
My success and my weaknesses.
But that is just who I am.
