Teacher, Guardian

Where there is night and water, there is a boat and a lighthouse.
You are the lighthouse, and I am the boat.
No matter how big I may think I am, I will always need you,
to guide my way through areas I do not know.
No matter what I know, you will be my guide.
Thank you for being there, despite the situation.
Thank you for listening, no matter how hard it may have all been.
Thank you for mentoring me, teaching me, shaping me.
Thank you for making me who I am today.
I've spent my years following your teachings,
and I think about it all the time.
You taught me love, you taught me hate,
taught me strength and weakness,
wisdom and ignorance.
And for all of this I thank you.
I can never forget you, and I hope the same goes for you.
