Teachers

They turn our words into opportunity

We raise our hands and in return they give us the knowledge

Providing us with the power, the power to make something of ourselves.

They show us how words can be translated to numbers, and how numbers can be translated into success.

They teach us how to be kind to one another, while still letting us learn what a true friend is.

They provide us with the knowledge,

knowledge that we share with those of the past.

Knowledge that will be passed down generations, knowledge that will be turned into something different by the end of the day.

Because the kid in the back of the classroom,

that kid will take that knowledge,

take the knowledge and do something great.

The knowledge a single person taught him,

he will take it and inspire others.

But he will forget to thank the single person who gave him that knowledge.

Since they teach us that numbers are everything,

that numbers define your life.

They warn us without directly telling us,

that numbers will rule your life.

Bigger following,

Better grades,

more classes,

Higher ranking

equals more money.

But we forget where we get the knowledge to achieve these things.

and maybe if we didn’t forget,

if she didn’t forget,

if he didn’t forget,

teachers would teach us,

they would teach us that numbers,

numbers  are only numbers.
