Teaching
I thought I wanted to be one of them
Join the few and far between
Be one of the greats, like my mom
Make a difference in some kid’s life
Be that change
That voice
That drive that helped someone
But then it hit me
Hit me like a broken dam flooding a river
Hit me like a slap shot in the face
It hit me so hard I couldn’t stop
I didn’t want to be like them
I didn’t want to join their club
I didn’t want to regret my choices
I didn’t want to try and fit into this mold anymore
I wanted to be me
