Teaching (More Than) Music

Some sing a song

Some dance to a tune

Some pick up a flute

Or bang on a drum

But in that way, they all come together

As musicians

They can make a tune together

And have a common bond

I want to bring these students together

Let them see their common bond

And teach them more than they’ll ever learn

In an average math class

They’ll learn to strive to be their best

And learn self-discipline

That practice makes perfect

And teamwork is important

Even though I will teach music,

Students will learn so much more than music alone.
