Teardrops in the Sand
Teardrops in the sand
The grains of rocks swallow it up
Separating the wet sand from the dry
Hands picking it up
Like a bubble of wet cement.
Teardrops in the sand
She feels swallowed by her emotions
Breaking apart from the ones she loves.
People help her up
But she falls.
Over and over again she falls
Her teardrops in the sand grow.
The darkness swallowing her whole
And taking her.
Her smiles weren’t enough to get through the day
Her tears seeped through her laughs.
She wanted to do better
She wanted to be better
But even her best friend
Sat her down
And told her
She was a bad person.
They told her she made bad choices
Bad decisions
And she wasn’t someone they wanted to be around.
One of the people who knew her the best,
Said she was a bad person
So she must be.
Was it too late?
Did her tears in the sand cause a flood?
She wanted to scream
She wanted to cry
She wanted to say goodbye
But her teardrops in the sand
Swallowed her whole
And it was too late.
It was always too late.
