Tears

Tears inside. Tears outside. Tears in my eyes. Tears in my ears. The blankets strangle me but I cannot move. The tears have immobilized me. I cannot turn. How does it come to this? How does this pain become all-consuming? As I lay there I ponder, How could I make the pain less? A knife comes to mind. "Wouldn't it feel wonderful to be out of this pain forever?" whispers the tempter. "God, I want so badly to live forever with you!" I cry as I lay in bed tears pouring down my face. Suddenly a verse enters my head: "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." "Abba," I cry "I know this I know it in my head but my heart doesn't believe." Slowly, very slowly I feel a peace, an everlasting peace, fill my body. Slowly the tears slow their pace down my face as I fall into a troubled slumber.
