Tears of Dust

The sun it burrows deep into the sand

And there my heart forever with it lies.

Where trees are flat on vigil do they stand

O'er dusty lands, filled with children's cries.

I ask these trees what story they may tell,

For old the wind that whispers through their leaves.

"There's joy in want, you'll find in darkest hell,

And he who hoards is he who also grieves."

Torn is my heart o'er rags and shacks and flame

Yet a precious jem in only this you'll find.

When all is lost the heavenly joy they claim

And by this peaceful stream they lay their mind.

For though we have watches, they have they time

With every dusty tear, towards hope they climb.
