Tears of Joy

Dear Onion,

You're perfectly spherical with two poles

Like a map of planet Earth.

Your layers tell stories.

A warrior shelled with bronze armor,

Submissive to all orders, risking your life for others' satisfaction.

Your nobility drives some to tears.

With your armor pierced, you're martyred,

Your core is forever a compliment to countless others.

Sliced and stuffed into a corn taco shell, maybe

Sautéed and squashed in a hamburger bun, or

Sizzled in an Italian sausage and peppers.

With dearest admiration,

Nicholas Frank.
