Tech no logy
What would I change?
Tech no logy
Racing at a heart throbbing pace
Leaving in its wake
Starry-eyed folks
Who wish to hold hands,
Mingling their words
Entwined
In a blanket of sentiment
Our quiescent world has grown silent
Staccato messages reaching out
Taciturn contraptions processing
Lonely deaf ears stand in waiting
A text
Cold and shallow
An e-mail
Oh so boring!
It feels barren and mundane
Redundancy is commonplace
Drab images, grey tones, empty words
Snap shots and video clips galore
Digitalized misrepresentation
Cement, ashen hills, and bare fields
Sour pusses and the back of heads
Closed doors and sulky pupils
The stairwell fills
with lackadaisical classmates
Assorted screens in hand
animated fingers grasping
Absorbed yet dull expressions
No One converses
No one is sparkling
Stiff and mechanical operations
Sleepy eyes shun apparitions now routine
Cranky, I miss the melodrama
Kids playing ball in the street
Meandering home with friends
Endless teasing and giggles
Silly and serious exchanges
Fighting and then making up
And in the end a great big hug
Warm colors of violet, auburn and orange
Flood my lids with rays of calm
Stillness and quiet permeate
Shouts invade my dream state
For just a moment I am free
Free to explore my mind’s eye
Free to float on azure seas
Free to soar high above the rough torn fabric
That man has woven of deceit
I hold my tongue
Scavenging for a witty remark
Like a duck among hens
What might I impart upon them?
My dreams take me
Beyond their shadows
A lively south wind swirls and sways
Branches in bloom rejoice
Birds glide and melodiously tweet
Cats and dogs banter
And I hum
Intoxicated by the force of the waves
Back to the world of man I stir
Cramped in a narrow space
A simple request for
Chit Chat
Face to Face
Jointly Binding
Our essence
A friendship to make
Not in a glass house
But one of natural wood
At a long table
Engaging in spirited discussion
Such entertainment!
Without captivating gadgets
To divide us
