Teddy Bear,
I wish I could go and take you with me wherever I went.
I wish I would never have to deal with the pain of leaving you behind in my room, whenever
I went to school or work or out with my family.
I wish I could cling to you whenever I wanted to escape all of my problems.
But I know I can’t.
Because I know that no matter how much I love you or hug you or hold you, there’s a
brevity to it. The time will come when all of your fur begins to fall out and your sparkly bow
begins to lose shine. This I know may be inevitable, and yet I refuse to let go.
Perhaps it is because of how immature I am,
purposely putting off responsibilities and
placing my heart before my head. This is a
problem that must be solved.
So today, I bid you goodbye, although it pains my heart and saddens my soul.
Softly, I place you into the donation bin, surrounded by too small t-shirts and pants.
Slowly, the car pulls away and I watch you disappear under the crook of a new person’s arm.
Sincerely,
Teddy Bear-Less
