I hung his Teddy on the tree
In the field where he'd go to play.
The sun had danced upon his cheeks--
The gleam of my glorious days.
But then came night of riders white,
We hid our skin in shadows black.
My boy had stepped into the light
And laid still by a fire's crack.
So now I kneel beneath the shade
Of the solemn Teddy Bear tree,
And to his Next Mama I pray
That She will give him love for me.
