Tell-Tale

The bruised heart pierced through the ear,

No one could possibly love this time of year,

The unwavering disgorge of the internet,

A month survived, not a wink of sleep yet.

A consistent humdrum, it grows

Torturing the depths of minds,

Louder! Louder! It’s the beating of my infernal heart!

Pumping out rhyme despite lack of reason.

My vulturous eyes have lost their blue,

I perceive now by a tired reddish hue,

Hidden spaces never before permitted to be seen,

Curiosity peaks behind the curtain,

Met with a blinding gleam.

Have you locked yourself out?

This used to be the key.

Try jiggling the gears in your head,

Try getting into another’s bed,

Maybe that will cleanse you of grief.

The excitement on your face will last for years,

A presence to talk to that has no ears,

Erratic migration made tyrant of the sun,

But before obedient clouds have their fun,

Each retina is met with a blinding gleam

Allowing a brief period,

Where no one has to confront god.
