Tell-tale Tear
She sits in the corner of the room
next to the tall, long window.
The window that should be open and spilling sunshine
but she always keeps the blinds drawn.
She is quiet, never even coughs
or sneezes
or sniffles
but one time..
she sighed.
Deep and long and light
and happy
like a dead man coming back to life
and taking a breath for the first time
in a thousand years.
The sigh is filled with a story.
What is it?
Then she cried
silent mournful sobs.
Only one tear left her eyes.
The tear escaped her cobalt eyes, oceans
rolled down her smooth porcelain cheek
and disappeared into corn husk hair.
And in that tear it is clear
that she has more than a story.
She has a secret.
