Temptation
I've gone through some things that I'm glad I made it out of & I've done some things I'm not too proud of. People always say "the only time you should ever look back is to see how far you've come." Like I don't know that, I ain't dumb. But there are times where this thing called temptation finds me. It lies & tries to misguide me. Sometimes I hold it by the hand & walk right along with it, narrow mindedly & blindly. I had a battle with temptation last night. & I lost. Because temptation puts up a hell of a fight. & I know it aint right to resort back to my old ways. Especially when I'm tryna be done with those days. But what should I do? Should I go to church, praise the Lord's name, ask for forgiveness & to help me change. But you know once its over church people don't act the same. Should I see someone in psychology, have em tell me "there's nothing wrong with you but something wrong with your brain" tell me I'm malfunctioning & have me feeling like a machine. There's many ways of getting "assistance" but if you really wanna take a step forward & get help you gotta start with yourself. Know that it's okay to take a step back so you can analyze your actions & realize, then say "I'm better than that" because I can no longer pretend that the things I sometimes desire wont destroy me in end, it will. So in the next round ima fight temptation & I'll whoop its ass, believe when I say "the past is gonna stay in the past." It aint gonna haunt me, because look how far it bought me. Yea its hard to ignore but when it comes my way I remember I'm better than I ever was before. But I'm human. I'm gonna get caught up. I'm gonna get pulled back. But its alright. I need that so I can see a new light, open a new door, go down a different path, to win this war, against temptation.
