ten hundred hearts
and will you have me describe to you such
loves for you that press me? how do i start
telling of the gold and purple my heart
contains for you, for i love you too much
to stand my weak heart up by a weak heart's crutch
this heavy love! it breaks me part by part
like a thousand hearts that come and depart
though ten hundred more can not near the touch.
o, and if i shall make you understand
how i by love, of love, for love, with love
hold my soul far out from mr in my hand
to find the words of love i claim to have
for you, by God, paradise knows how true
i would settle for earth and hell for you
