Tension
Are you still wondering what it would be like to live in the tension of homosexuality and Christianity?
It goes like this. Desiring to live life from a place of fullness, you consistently wonder why you are empty. Desiring to live life with a God who loves, you only hear about a God who judges. Desiring to have a seat at the table, you get invited, but they tell you not to wear a name tag. Desiring to give your life away, you get told no because you are different.
Have you ever been at the top of a roller coaster and wished you could get off the ride?
Have you ever been halfway through eating a pizza and someone asks, “Are you going to eat that whole thing?”
Have you ever been doing laundry and wanted to stop after you wash just the whites?
Have you ever been mid-air doing a cannonball and realized you are wearing jeans?
Have you ever been caught between two lovers like a sad romantic comedy?
You see, they tell you that the part of you is not the whole of you, but what they also say is that the part of you determines whether or not the whole of you is welcome. See a problem with that? How am I supposed to believe that the part they don’t like does not poison the whole? But they’ll tell you they speak in
grace & truth.
I think they forgot the grace and left me with the truth. If they would read the rest of the words they yell at me, they would see that elsewhere our King says not to give someone a heavy weight if you are unwilling to help them hold it. Therein lies the tension—carrying someone else’s burden.
Are you ready to do that? Because I am.
