Terror and Uncertainty
The dusk is nigh,
so bright the sun does shine,
for she does not wish to leave.
But she must,
so she does,
and thus,
her brother arises.
Night is nigh,
as her last rays leave the sky,
and Night's spirit flow free,
letting loose its beauty,
and its terror.
Though Night's beauty is prominent,
its terror hides,
hides and whispers,
whispers curses to the moon,
the moon that keeps it at bay.
Night's terror hides,
and whispers,
whispers and hides,
only in the darkest shadows,
created in the night.
But Night's beauty,
oh, its beauty!
Night's beauty is the most beautiful sight,
with the stars shining oh-so bright.
Oh! The beauty of the night,
fills you not with fright,
but with ecstatic joy!
But when the new moon comes,
and there's naught but the stars,
to provide dim light,
Night's terror ventures out,
away from the shadows.
The moon's light keeps prisoner no longer,
so Terror goes,
wherever he goes,
or wishes to go,
filling both young and old with despair.
A whisper here,
a clatter there,
what is it that you truly fear?
Now Terror succeeds and bites,
one last time,
as dawn draws near,
and Night comes to a close.
Terror grumblingly goes back to lurking,
lurking in the darkest of shadows,
all the while hissing,
hissing spitefully at the thought of staying there,
staying there 'till the next new moon.
And as the day shines bright,
your fright shall flee,
and leave you,
as you wish to be.
But you shan't be entirely at ease,
for you still have memories,
memories of your fear,
brought to your sight by Night's terror.
But what,
exactly,
do you fear?
You may say many things,
but many lead back to one.
For I know what I truly fear.
What I fear,
is Uncertainty,
and the Unknown.
