Tetelestai
Tetelestai; a word not well known,
to me it means freedom, but also that I'm owned.
To Him it meant, it's taken care of,
to me it means, I'm not alone.
A proclamation shouted out,
spoken by a blood stained man.
To me it means, be aware of,
you now have everlasting life,
to Him it meant, it's now accomplished,
I was the sacrifice.
To me it means, don't waste your life,
to Him it meant, I paid the price.
Tetelestai is a declaration,
delivered in the darkness,
fallen from the lips of a spotless lamb,
uttered from the mouth of a perfect man.
To me it means forgiveness,
to Him it meant pain relentless.
To me it means, I'm redeemed,
to Him it meant a coarse rough tree.
To me it means acceptance,
to Him it was rejection.
A crucifixion up on a hill,
an innocent man dead and still.
A tomb prepared for the friend of sinners,
they thought they won, but three days later, He's the winner.
Now on high the powerful Christ,
the one who yelled "Tetelestai",
the one who yelled, "It is finished!" then died.
