Thailand, The Land That I Was Born

I came from a place, where night and day, there is no electricity, no need to pay; you can see through people’s faces with empathy. It is the start of my journey, to experience at a very young age how to knit, cook, babysit, and work on the farms. Where outside the neighbors, you can hear chicken squawk, dogs bark, ducks quack, and see pigs rub back and forth in the mud. Where the odor of animals and evaporation of dirt fills the air stops your hunger, keeps it away. Where children play from dawn to dark, though there is no park, but no one whines, like the silence of the dead; we hear nothing beside chirping as the wind dances by. Given what little we have, we appreciate everything and cherish it wholly. It is where my roots are; it is where my home is.

This is my poem about Thailand, but the place where I actually lived is called Vaj Loog Tsua. It's about where I considered to be my home.
