for all the night drives and moonlit stares we shared.

those songs we listened to together are hard to listen to alone.

we listened to them so loud that the music's vibrations,

seemed to put your broken pieces back together.

you opened up and spoke to me and your mouth,

it's looked different ever since that day.

the way your cigarette smoke and words came out at once.

the air felt cleaner with every exhale.

but now it's attacked my lungs, and I can't breathe.

you make it hard to breathe.

but we both grew up on the same river so we both know to just keep going.

you're the river, you keep running no matter what.

but, I hope you learn to stop running from yourself.
