A Thank You

Those days when we were children

Sometimes I reminisce

About if we could repeat them

And all the naps I’ve missed

The pillow fights the cookie mouse

And running in the breeze

The squirt gun fights the LEGO house

And stains on all my sleeves

My mother often pulls my chain

But she truly is a saint

Her caring arms can heal my pain

And wipe my tears away

So despite I’m always tired

And I’d love to take a break

This life that I’ve acquired

Is too good not to take

So thanks to all my brothers

Who helped to make me strong

And thanks to many others

Who helped me all along

I promise in this moment

Though the future always looms

That when the night is over

Tomorrow I will bloom.
