To all our soldiers

Thank you for long sleepless nights

Spent in far off lands

Or closer to home

But always protecting us

You live with courage

Facing enemies unseen

While being afraid

You learn to face it

And people depend on that

When you are deployed

News from home must seem so rare

Yet you are the ones

Upholding our rights

That our citizens hold dear

Grim things you must see

For there is a war out there

Here we are sheltered

But you know the truth

As our first line of defense

Thanks is not enough

For all the struggles gone through

But I hope you know

That people do care

And not just one day a year
