Thank you Broken Heart

Dear broken heart,

I know you make us feel like things will never get better.

That’s exactly why I chose to write this letter.

It came so sudden, it was so unexpected.

You left me feeling unloved and neglected.

From the experiences I have had with you,

The words I write couldn’t be more true.

I believe you will come into contact with everyone.

Even with time, you are never completely done.

There are so many different kinds of a broken heart.

Some hurt just a little and some tear your soul apart.

The worst ones are the ones you can physically feel.

The pain shreds through your chest and it is so real.

They say time heals all,

But they didn’t tell you how much you would bawl.

Why hasn’t time healed you yet?

There are some broken hearts that we never forget.

The only thing that I truly know about you

Is that you have left me feeling blue.

I wish no one would have to experience this pain

But without it, we would never know how it feels when our heart becomes whole again.

So thank you broken heart for teaching me

How horrific you can be.
