Thank You, Ellen

Dear Ellen,

I’m writing you this letter because I truly am your biggest fan

You’ve inspired me since I was little to be the best that I can

I remember watching your show every day after school

And I always thought: Man, that joke-loving lady is so cool

I want to be just like her and make people laugh and chortle

Because the world will always need a good chuckle

I’ve grown up a lot since then and I stopped wanting to be a comedian

But I still look up to you, like when you fight for LGBTQ rights and elephants too

And yes, the US is a political mess but

Not everyone will agree that President Trump is a chimpanzee

That distracts the crowds with his tweets sent proud

But of one thing I’m sure, that laughter brings people together

And everyone always says laughter is the best medicine

It’s helped me when I was feeling down and hope was thin

Like when times were tough at home

And even at school I felt so alone

But you were always there for me

An escape from the sadness and self-pity

So thank you for what you do and I still pray that one day I get to meet you

Because let’s be real a day with Ellen would be comedic heaven

I could temporarily forget that the fate of the US isn’t a sure bet

I think you’d really like me and the audience would think I’m pretty funny

Maybe not as funny as little Tavaris when he Juju’d on that Beat to the chorus

But until then you’ll continue to inspire me with your bright smile and never-ending glee
