Thank You For Finding Me

Dear Poetry,

Have YOU ever felt alone?

The feeling of being alone

Even when you are sitting home,

Surrounded by Family?

Loved one?

Friends?

We question is it real

We cry out to see if they hear us

But it’s all in our head

But YOU hear us

On the outside.

We post, Like, Comment, and Caption

“ I wanna’ be left alone”

But we’re crying out for help

Words we don’t understand are written on YOU

But what separates the weak from the strong is

The control YOU have over said words

Pain to them is physical

Pain to me is emotional

Not having anybody understand

But the pain grows for us

And it shows on YOU

But YOU are my pain

A computer or a pencil and paper

I wrote my words out as a cry for help

And only YOU Heard, Listened, and Understood

And many called my version of YOU “Stupid”

But YOU are my Tylenol

My Benadryl

My ibuprofen

You heal me

Keep me sane

Help me vent

And explains the fears,

That any minority faces

YOU open up the minds of people

YOU help them see what others can’t see

YOU understand the pain

Others just hide the pain

And judge to hide their shame

YOU have cured me of pains

Therapist could never heal

And scars that doctors could never stitch

YOU are my muse.

Thank You, With love

Terrell Peace
