Thank you Mrs.Stearns

It started in 11th grade I thought poetry was a joke

Now I love the sound the rhythm the feel

Writing is powerful from pen and paper to finger on key stroke

11th grade english class was with Mrs.Stearns

A sweet teacher who was the real deal

She wanted her sudents just to learn

At the end of the year we did a poetry jam

I decided to try it so I put pencil to paper

I read my words on the page after feeling doubt and thought "Maybe I can"

After the jam I went over to Mrs.Steans to thank her

It felt so real to read my words

The verses had my class mates cheering

I had done it and now my voice could be heard

My passion expressed I could show people my being

Poerty I love it now because of her

Poetry I have the power now to show my emotions

Because of Mrs.Stearns

I believe in the power of words
