Thank You Sir

Dad

I want to go play outside

Not do my homework!

Who cares about baseball practice tonight?

Definitely not me

Why is it important?

Who is it hurting?

Why are you being so mean?

Dad

I just got home

I already did so much

I’m just dead tired

That mountain of work will be there tomorrow

It won’t hurt me today

But what if I miss the big game?

How do you expect me to do it all now?

Why do you badger me every day?

Dad

It’s just too much

I promise I’m trying

Maybe it’s just not for me

Well I just can’t fix it

The mountain is haunting me

I just can’t do it

Why can’t I just do this much?

Why are you making it so hard?

Why are you acting like a Prison Guard?

Dad

Thank you

For if you hadn’t been there

To push me farther

To make me grow

I do not know

Where I would be today

Thank you
