Across the endless ocean
Beyond the beauty of the sunrise
Carefully treading on foreign ground
Defending their country
Defending me
Daughter’s begging for her daddy
Momma’s crying herself to sleep
Son is trying to be strong
Daddy rarely sleeps
Daddy’s defending me
Above him debris is falling
To his right, his brother –dead
On his left another terrorist
Another explosion up ahead
No time to cry
No time to weep
Daddy’s got to keep going
Daddy has to get back on his feet
There’s never time to slow down
Never time to relax
Never time to be sick
Never time to turn back
Daddy’s got to keep going
His men are dying
He's been shot
He won’t see his kids again
And the world—
The world goes on without a thought
No one stops
No one cares
No one’s got the time
The world is too busy—too busy
A soldier falls
Defending his country
His country
Ignores him
A hero was lost
A daddy was lost
A husband was lost
And no one cares
Not no one—I care
I care and I wish more people did
It’s not too late to change
Change our ungrateful ways
When we see a man in uniform
When we see him in his hat
We can stop
We can thank him
We can let him know we care
We all can care
Thank you for your service
Each and every one of you
