Thankful
There were infinite amounts of surprises with you.
The biggest one was how different you were,
From what I expected, and what I thought I knew.
You were always there for me, ready to assure,
But somehow people believed you were just sub-par.
Nothing in the world makes me more happy,
Than knowing I got to know who you really are.
Love is something you taught me,
To strive to be better, to strive to care for myself.
I didn't want someone to need,
But your picture stands on my dorm shelf,
As a physical, unchanging reminder,
That you are the best, most influencing person in my life.
I strive to be academically better,
Because I Love You.
I try to stay true to myself, no matter what,
Because I Love You.
I show kindness to others, even when negativity fills my gut,
Because I Love You.
You want happiness for me, so I strive to be happy,
Because I Love You.
I'm so thankful for you, and I hope you see
That it's because I love you.
